INT. MICHAELS LOUNGE – DAY

Three friends, mid 20’s, MICHAEL, ANDY, and JULIA watch TV from the various couches of the well kept lounge room.

ANDY
What are we doing today?

MICHAEL
What do you mean? We’re doing it.

ANDY
This is it? Surly we can find something more fun to do than this on our Saturday.

Julia stands up.

JULIA
I have to go shopping, you two could come with me? You got anything to eat?

MICHAEL
I don’t know, whatever’s in there.

JULIA
I can have anything from your kitchen?

MICHAEL
Yeah it’s a real smorgasbord, go nuts.

Julia walks into the adjoining kitchen.

ANDY
We’re not going shopping. Seriously we’re not going to do anything?

MICHAEL
Well what do you want to do?

ANDY
I don’t know. Something to counter a five day work week. Something historic.

JULIA (O.S.)
Can I eat this left over pizza?

MICHAEL
No that’s my lunch.
(To Andy)
How about we go bowling?

JULIA (O.S.)
What about this bag of chips?

MICHAEL
No I’m saving them.

ANDY
I ask for something historic and you suggest bowling?

JULIA (O.S.)
You said I could have anything.

MICHAEL
They’re for my Dad, he’s coming over Monday night.

ANDY
Really? Bowling?

MICHAEL
Okay, so that’s a no to the bowling. What’s your big suggestion.

JULIA (O.S.)
What if I just had some of them? Surely your Dad won’t eat the whole bag.

MICHAEL
Get something else.

ANDY
Okay, how about we go into the city and repel down a skyscraper?

MICHAEL
What you mean like abseil? You want to abseil down a skyscraper? That’s mad, we’re not doing that.

JULIA (O.S.)
You said I could have anything.

MICHAEL
You can’t have my Dad’s chips. Just have a bowl of cereal or something.

JULIA (O.S.)
Not exactly a smorgasbord.

ANDY
Cereal? Bowling? You have really bad suggestions today?

MICHAEL
I’m sorry I don’t want to hang by a rope off a high building. Have you even abseiled before?

ANDY
No but that’s what will make it historic.

MICHAEL
The only historic thing you’ll see is me crying in fear while hanging off a building. Why can’t we just hang out here?

ANDY
Because that’s what we always do and then before you know it it’s Monday again.

Julia walks in eating a bowl of cereal.

JULIA
You’ve never been shopping with me before.

MICHAEL
I do need to buy a new belt.

ANDY
Ughh, fine, we’ll go shopping then. Any more of that cereal left?

JULIA
Yeah there’s plenty, it’s actually pretty good.

Julia sits down as Andy stands up.

ANDY
Sweet, you want some?

MICHAEL
Do I want some of my own cereal?

ANDY
Yes.

MICHAEL
Yes I do thank you.

ANDY
Alright, cereals all round and then we’re going shopping. Andy runs towards the kitchen.

JULIA
Best Saturday ever.
