Frivolous

EXT. STREET – DAY

Three friends, SAM (22), LUCY (23), and GEORGE (22), are rugged up under a grey sky as the walk along a suburban street.

LUCY
So I’m thinking of breaking up with Colin.

GEORGE
Again? Haven’t you two already broken up like a dozen times?

LUCY
Yeah. We’ll probably get back together again after I break up with him.

GEORGE
Then why even break up with him in the first place?

LUCY
I don’t know, something to do.

SAM
Lucy, you are probably the most frivolous person I’ve ever met.

LUCY
Thanks! Wait is that a good thing or a bad thing?

SAM
It’s a bad thing.

GEORGE
I think it’s just a thing.

LUCY
Wait. Did you just insult me?

SAM
No, surely it’s a bad thing.

GEORGE
You think? Wouldn’t the situation dictate whether it’s a good or bad thing?

SAM
I suppose. But frivolous, that’s always negative right?

LUCY
So you definitely meant to insult me.

GEORGE
Depends how you look at it. If we think of it more in terms of carefree then there are times when it would be a good trait.

LUCY
So it is a good thing! Thanks George.

SAM
I suppose, but in this instance…

GEORGE
Oh yeah, totally a bad thing. The girl’s crazy.

LUCY
Me being the girl right?

GEORGE
Yes.

LUCY
Oh.

Sam gives Lucy a playful, overly affectionate hug as they walk.

SAM
Oh Luce, we love you.

George joins in.

GEORGE
Yeah we think you’re great, even if you are a bit crazy.

LUCY
Aww, thanks guys. I love you too.

SAM
She forgave us easily.

GEORGE
Yeah, see, there are benefits to her being frivolous.

LUCY
Hey!

Lucy thinks.

LUCY (CONT’D)
Thanks.
