As I’m still falling behind with my a-scene-a-days, you, lucky reader, also get to read the first act of the first draft of a screenplay I’ve written for my Masters, and you get to read it one scene at a time, one day at a time. It’s entitled Mitosis and the basic plot is a of a neurotic young man who goes over to South America to find his twin brother, who is holidaying over there. It’s an adventure/comedy…and that’s about all you need to know. Happy reading.
A collections of dark murky colours enter the shot. Slowly they condense and clarify to become a single egg cell floating by itself inside of a womb.
The cell pulsates and elongates, stretching out until with an inaudible pop it splits, duplicating through division.
Time speeds up and these two cells continue to undergo mitosis, dividing and duplicating quicker and quicker.
Two shapes begin to form. Two similar, but distinct, fetuses grow together. DANIEL (V.O.) This is my brother Nathan and this is me.
